Super Dog Sunday Benefits Petfinder Foundation: Is Your Dog Ready To Play Ball?!

Do I look ready for Super Dog Sunday?

Do you all know that Super Dog Sunday TM is a charitable event, now in its third year, that benefits the Petfinder Foundation? We're thrilled to be one of the many pet bloggers who make up the "Cheer Team" for this event, that helps spread the good word about pet adoption-yahoo! As you can see from the above picture, we've pawticipated in this event in previous years (I don't usually play with an Official NFL Football). Generous sponsors pay an annual fee to participate, and every penny of that fee is donated to the Petfinder Foundation so they can continue to assist shelters and rescues, and in turn, help  beautiful orphaned animals find forever homes.

So how can you help? Glad you asked! Super Dog Sunday TM is really a photo contest that features great pics of pets (both your pets and adoptable pets on Petfinder.com), that each have a football theme. You can snap a cute pic of your pet playing with a football (see above) or surrounded by football gear, or edit a photo of an adoptable animal using football graphics. See ImageChef.com for free and fun ways to edit your photo submissions.

You can submit your photos by no later than February 3, 2013 to Parental Unit at: jdemarti@columbus.rr.com and I'll post them on a special Pinterest board made just for the occasion. I'll be posting photos starting now, so start snapping and/or editing some adorable photos to benefit this great cause! By the way, for those of you who are gridiron challenged, February 3, 2013 is Super Bowl Sunday!

You can also submit your photos to EventBarkers@gmail.com and all of the pics will be posted on Dog Tipper and All Things Dog Blog. Posting started a few days ago on January 20 and will continue through Super Bowl Sunday.

We hope you all join in this fun, charity event and as always, many thanks for your support!

Mr. Chewy's Shelter And Rescue Network: A Great Idea To Help Animals In Need!

Hear ye, hear ye, all animal rescue organizations! We're thrilled to be able to give a shout-out to Mr. Chewy's Shelter and Rescue Network that we think is one of the greatest ideas since...well, you name it!

The company's (now officially chewy.com) goal is to "create the largest shelter and rescue network designed to support non-profit organizations that help animals in need." Once you register your non-profit organization, you'll have access to all sorts of programs designed especially by Chewy.com to help your organization help animals through donations, fundraising and visibility opportunities (did we mention that Mr. Chewy is master of the social media universe?)

Chewy.com is so dedicated to helping animal organizations, it even has its own charity coordinator, the lovely and savvy Michelle Miller. And here's what she has to say about Chewy.com's Shelter and Rescue Network:

"For me, the best part about being a part of Chewy.com is meeting the people and hearing the stories behind our Shelter & Rescue Network partners. They're the ones doing the hard work, giving shelter, providing care, and finding homes for animals in need. When you hear as many stories as I do, you realize that they're doing more than giving a cat or dog a place to sleep... they're helping build a family. I'm glad we have the opportunity to come alongside them and help in any way we can."

Here's how Chewy.com's Shelter and Rescue Network works:

1. You register your non-profit, animal shelter or rescue with Chewy.com (Of course, it's free and super easy).

2. Your organization will immediately have access to all kinds of cool stuff, like banners, icons and links to help promote your new partnership with Chewy.com and start funneling donations your way.
For every new customer referred from your organization who registers and orders a product, Chewy.com will donate $20 to your organization!

3. Your organization will receive it's very own "landing page" on Chewy.com's website to welcome your referrers, and will include your logo, name, location and brief description of your organization-cool!
4. You'll have access to all kinds of nifty printed materials, too, like posters, new adopter welcome kits and pamphlets to help promote your partnership with chewy.com and help drive even more referrals (aka donations), to your organization.
5. Chewy.com will help you increase your organizations visibility and social outreach through its hundreds of thousands of social media fans on a national level, and even "geo-target" your audience through e-mail and direct marketing to promote your upcoming events, like special adoption fairs or fundraisers.

And as an extra bonus, when your organization reaches 100 referrals, Chewy.com will issue a press release to both national and local media to further promote your joint partnership! And you know what all this free, expert marketing of your organization does, right? It helps you to achieve your goal to increase pet adoption!

On this very important day, Be, Blog and Read The Change For Animals, we salute Chewy.com, the Be the Change for Animals organization and all of the animal shelters, rescues and bloggers who work tirelessly to help animals in need. Thank You!

Helping Shelters And Rescues Ramp Up Their Online Presence

We're proud to share with you a new initiative by Rachel Ray's Nutrish Brand dog food to help animal shelters and rescue groups better promote adoption. And our good friends at Romeo the Cat have partnered with Nutrish to make sure that this effort carries a "one-two" punch. Here's how:

Nutrish has created MyShelterSite.com to provide free, professional and SEO ready website and social media templates for rescues and shelters - what a great idea! By the way, the template is built on the WordPress platform so it's super easy, and the hosting is free, too!

Romeo
And to bolster this generous endeavor, Romeo the Cat has chimed in, as the good kitty and his staff, Caroline Golon, often do, and are not only helping to spread the word about this offer but have added to it: Romeo has assembled a team of media savvy bloggers who are on perpetual stand-by to answer questions from rescues and shelters about websites, social media and online marketing. In fact, these experts will choose one question a week to answer collectively, and publish their answer every Monday on the team's blogs. Questions should be submitted to: Caroline@romeothecat.com.

Read more about this outstanding program and its media mentors right here: www.romeothecat.com/2011/08/02/social-media-for-rescues-and-shelters/

So what can you do to help this generous campaign get the word out? Why not write a post about it on your blog, or share a link to this one. We all want to help shelters and rescues ramp up their efforts to promote their orphaned pets, and harnessing the full potential of the Internet and social media is one great way to do that.

As always, thanks for your support.
