We met walking around our neighborhood, and soon learned that our respective Parental Units always carry treats! That's me, checking out John's pockets:-)

Instead of adorable pictures of Bella and me (see above), we thought we'd at least occasionally feature adoptable pets from our neck of the woods, namely our favorite adoption/rescue organization, The Columbus Dog Connection. We'll try to pick pets that are a bit older or have some special needs because they might be less likely to be adopted.

So without further adieu, here are the real stars of today's show...

Meet Eric: This one year old fella is extremely outgoing and friendly, and loves to interact with dogs because he loves the attention! Please contact Linda at (614) 507-9384 if you're interested in Eric.We're featuring Eric not because he's older or has special needs, but because he's a black kitty, who suffers from the same inexplicable "syndrome" as black dogs do...

And introducing our adoptable dog of the week who's both older and black...

Meet Brady: As you can see, Brady is an incredibly handsome Border Collie/Lab mix who is a very young eight years. He's very friendly with people and dogs and is extremely well-mannered. Although he doesn't need crated, he tends to get a bit anxious when left home alone (don't we all!), but does well with the company of another dog. We'd like to urge all of our readers to please take a minute and write a short post on your blog that mentions the Pedigree Foundation and this year's "Write A Post, Help A Dog" campaign to help shelter dogs. For every post written, Pedigree will donate 20 pounds of food, (up to a whopping 10,000 pounds!), to shelters in the Northeast that are shouldering the extra burden of pets displaced by Hurricane Irene. The names of the shelters will be announced shortly.

We have only a few more days to reach our 10,000 pound goal-the campaign runs through this Saturday, September 3, so please chip in with a post before you get caught up in the holiday weekend festivities.
