ASPCA's #31DaysOfRescueDogs Campaign!

Fun graphic courtesy of ASPCA

The gorgeous month of October is nearly at its half-way point...which means you have 17 days remaining to add your voice to the #31DaysOfRescueDogs Campaign, generously co-sponsored by the ASPCA and Animal Planet.

October is Adopt A Shelter Dog Month, and what better way to shine a spotlight on all the gorgeous dogs waiting at shelters for their forever home, than to launch a fun social media campaign to help raise funds for homeless pets? Here's what you and all of your family and friends can do to participate in this month's festivities:

1. Tell all of your friends and social media followers that you'll be participating in the #31DaysOfRescueCampaign.

2. Post one photo of your favorite rescue dog for 31 days on social media channels (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) using the hashtag #31DaysOfRescueDogs.

3. Encourage your friends to donate $1 a day in exchange for 31 days of adorable photos ($31 goes a long way for shelter dogs in need!). And, let them know that everyone who donates will get a dedicated 31 Days Of Rescue Dogs temporary tattoo!

4. Share your favorite photos for a chance to be featured on Animal Planet during the Pit Bulls and Parolees marathon, submit your photo here!

5. The top three fundraisers will win prizes from the ASPCA and its great partner, Animal Planet.

On top of all that fun, @ASPCA will be hosting a #TrickOrTreats HOWLoween Twitter Trivia party on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at 2:00PM EST. They'll be lots of prizes so stop by if you can!

Help Celebrate Shelter Dogs With The ASPCA And Animal Planet!

Here's one shelter dog who's livin' the good life...

Since October is Adopt A Shelter Dog Month, this is your chance to help dogs in shelters all across the country find their forever homes. Unfortunately, there are approximately four million dogs entering shelters each year in the United States alone, and so many of those four million never find loving homes.

Enter the ASPCA and the good folks at Animal Planet to help draw attention to all of these beautiful, but homeless dogs with a prize-filled social media contest—and you and your beautiful adopted dog have a chance to win big!

Just sign up here to take the pledge to "Make Pet Adoption Your Only Option" and upload a photo of your rescued dog. Yours could be one of three favorite photos selected to receive a special ASPCA and Animal Planet prize pack. Plus, all entries submitted before Friday, October 16th (Hurry!) may be eligible to appear on a new episode of Pit Bulls & Parolees on Animal Planet Saturday, October 10th or 17th at 10/9c!

Don't forget to share your rescue dog's photo on all of your social media channels using the hashtag #MyRescueDog and tagging @aspca and @animalplanet.

Because large dogs are more frequently overlooked in shelters, the ASPCA is urging everyone looking to add a new four-legged family member to consider adopting a larger dog because "It's not the size of your home but the size of your heart that matters." Can you say #BigLove?

We've already entered, and we're excited to see your photos! Please share your favorite photo of your rescue dog with us, too, on our Facebook page

As always, thanks for all you do to help shelter pets.

Top Ten Reasons To Adopt A Shelter Dog

My top reason...because we former shelter  dogs are so darn handsome! Photo Credit: Rachel Lauren Photography.

Do we really need any more great reasons to adopt a shelter dog? Like, oh, saving a life, making room for another abandoned dog at the shelter, saving money, discouraging irresponsible breeders by taking away their market... Well, just in case we do, here are at least ten great reasons courtesy of one of our favorite holistic veterinarians, Dr. Karen Becker. Check 'em out and share with your friends who might be considering a new family member.

Can you think of any other reasons to adopt your next pooch from a shelter? Let us know!
As always, thanks for your support!
