The Buddies Are Back: Treasure Buddies DVD Giveaway!

Make that two DVD's of Disney's latest talking dog adventure, Treasure Buddies! This time, the five heroic pups, Rosebud, B-Dawg, Budderball, Buddha, and Mudbud take on an adventure like no other-and find themselves in the ruins of ancient Egypt in a race against a devious cat (what cat isn't devious!) to find one of the greatest treaures known to mankind-the lost collar of Cleocatra!

I think these movies are adorable, and tons of fun for all ages...as you can see from the picture below, Parental Unit thinks they're cool, too.

The Latest On Dog Cognition

When our dog gazes at us with those loving eyes and does that endearing head-tilt when we talk, they're understanding a lot more than we might think, at least according to a study published in the journal, Current Biology.
Reported in this week's Science Section of The New York Times, the study concludes that "dogs, like infants, are able to study minor details in human communication and correctly interpret intent."
In other words, our beloved canines can can understand even subtle differences in human behavior and intent, likely learned over thousands of years of domestication.
"Dogs are functionally similar to a 6-month-old, to a 1-year-old," said Dr. Adam Miklosi, one of the author of the study. He even goes so far as to say that "you can really treat your dog as sort of an infant," unlike, say, a typical barnyard animal.

What we love about this study is that what you humans have hoped for so long-that we understand you-is now (nearly) proven by science. You're finally catching up! Hello?

Disney's Talking Dogs: The Buddies' Latest Adventure!

We're thrilled to help promote the upcoming release of the new Disney movie, Treasure Buddies, featuring those five adorable Golden Retriever pups that we come to know and love through the "Buddies" series of Disney flicks. Remember the fabulous world premier of Spooky Buddies that BlogPaws attendees were treated to last fall?  Treasure Buddies is the latest installment of the zany antics and harrowing, but always heartwarming adventures of five adorable (and talking) canines that will be released directly to DVD on January 31. But we've got the scoop on lots of cool stuff leading up to this release date.

First up is a series of dog training videos that Disney will be posting on YouTube during the month of January. Each of the Buddies, along with April Mackin, a trainer at Birds and Animals Unlimited, the company that has traded the Buddies on several of their films, will be featured in this series.

We'll post the rest of the training video links on our Facebook page starting with the first one tomorrow-so don't forget to check back each week for tips on dog training and examples of how the trainers prepare the Buddies to perform on set. This dog training video series can also be viewed on the Buddies' Facebook page, so check it out!
