The first comment was from Caroline, from High Paw Media so let's all put our paws together in a round of applause for our winner! Now, in full disclosure, we just happen to know Caroline and think she's wonderful, but that's what the Random Sequence Generator came up with, so that's who won!

We'll ask Caroline to give us her snail mail address and I'll pass it on to the publisher, who will then send out the book.

The Mid-Century Modern Dog House

We loved this sweet story in Modern Dog Magazine's most recent newsletter about a young boy who asked Frank Lloyd Wright to design a dog house for his best buddy-and offered to pay the architect from his paper route money!

Parental Unit just happens to love mid-century modern and modern design and was taken with these cool pet accessories, complete with links to their designers, also showcased in this newsletter. We hope you enjoy browsing these MOD-ern accouterments for your furry friends as much as we did.

"Arlo Needs Glasses" Autographed Book Giveaway!

   Remember this fella, Arlo? The fluffy pooch who needed glasses?

Well, we're here to remind you why we love this charming book, Arlo Needs Glasses, and offer a giveaway of one hard-bound, autographed copy of Barney Saltzberg's mini-masterpiece. Directions for entering this one-of-a-kind giveaway are at the end of this post.

But first, we'd like to tell you why we're so taken by this tale of a near-sighted canine and the boy who loves him enough to make sure he can keep playing fetch...The book, written for children three and up (up to 100, we say!), is 3-D, tactile and interactive, (wait to you see what "pops up" at the end!) which makes it perfect to engage young children, even before they've learned to read. And it tells a brief, but timeless story of a youngster trying to help his dog-in this case to regain his ball fetching abilities. But it does something else-it makes wearing glasses cool, even for a dog! So if you know a youngster who's on the verge of getting glasses and a bit shy or worried about it, read this book with your young friend - it will surely help him or her dive right in to the lens wearing crowd. We think this book is clever, sweet and educational from start to finish-Parental Unit and I read it together and both loved it!

"Arlo Needs Glasses" Pinterest Contest!

We are pleased to announce this Pinterest Photo Contest on behalf of the fabulous new children's book,  Arlo Needs Glasses (for ages 3 and up), by the prolific children's book author, Barney Saltzberg. We were fortunate to receive a copy of this clever, boy and his dog tale, and were immediately taken with its sincerity and charm. Hey, if your dog could no longer catch the balls you threw, no matter how many times you tried to help him, you, too might discover that your best furry pal needed glasses. And along the way, Arlo, the fluffy, four-eyed pooch learns another important lesson about the benefits of clear sight...
