The Making Of A Presidential Visit

Some of you may know that last week, President Obama paid a visit to Columbus, Ohio, in a very informal setting-he had a "kitchen-table" chat with a family in a little Columbus neighborhood just a mile or two north of The Ohio State University campus. He then held a discussion with their neighbors and other invited guests and local elected officials in their backyard. A "friend of a friend, of a friend" of Parental Unit attended that backyard chat and put together a very interesting Picasa photo album of the event with a bit of commentary-70 photos to be exact! And they're in order: so if you hit "slideshow" and then "full screen" you can really get an intimate portrait of the event, from set-up to tear down, so you get to see  all the "hoopla" that goes into a presidential visit.

So what does this have to do with dogs? Well...nothing, unless you count the fact that the President and his family own a dog! :-) But Parental Unit was just so entranced by this well done photo album, that she couldn't help but pass it on to her blog friends. She figures that it might be most interesting to those followers who live outside the U.S., but who knows?

So here it is and we hope you enjoy!

P.S. While Parental Unit and I both wish we had been invited, we don't think you have to be of President Obama's political persuasion to enjoy this...and we're not trying to "convert", just pass on something we think is interesting!

We didn't know about this at all because Blog Mom is working on recovering from being something called a "news junkie". She says the whole past decade has caused a range of symptoms and the only thing she's been able to do for it is to get two Shar Pei and stay away from most political reporting and ALL "talking heads". Well, I'd stay away from a talking head, too. Scareee! Still, she was excited to see this slide show and like it very much and has to admit she likes this president very much and wishes she was there, too. (Hope she doesn't start backsliding.)As for me, well, those lucky people got to meet Bo's Dad! I wonder if they asked what Bo is really like and that sort of question.

We have been on vacation for the last week in the north woods in Wisconsin so we hadn't heard about this. Thanks for sharing, it is really cool! Of course, we are from Chicago so I guess it's no surprise that we like this president ...

I'm glad I found your blog through the blog hop, but sad that it's come to the point that being excited over meeting the president can be construed as "political." Great pics!

Oh, we agree with you on that one, Edie :-)
