Photo of miracle puppy dubbed "Gem", courtesy of San Francisco Animal Care and Control (SFACC)
A tiny poodle-mix puppy miraculously survived being tied into a trash bag, thrown into a dumpster with construction materials and hauled many miles along with the debris, before recycling center workers spied movement on the conveyor belt and plucked her from certain death. According to this story featured on Dog Time Media, the puppy (approximately 10 weeks old) had several bite wounds on her neck that probably occurred before she was thrown in the trash.
"Gem" is now resting comfortably in the care of animal control workers and is expected to make a complete recovery. Meanwhile, the two workers who helped save the puppy's life are being hailed as heroes and donations and requests to adopt the lucky dog are pouring in. "It's a miracle dog, " one of the rescuers said. "There's no other words to describe it."
