"How's The New Hip? Woof! Woof!"

In today's New York Times Sports Section (right under the football playoff scores) is an article entitled: "Joint Replacements Keep Dogs in the Competition." The article quotes several leading veterinarians in the burgeoning field of animal joint replacement. One, Dr. Pamela Schwartz, who specializes in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, said " Many people treat their dogs as if they were their own children...so when it comes to the health of their dogs, owners are more inclined than ever before to seek out specialized care." Of course, we're like their own children!
 The article says that although hip replacement surgery for larger dogs has been around for a number of decades, "micro-hip replacement for cats and dogs weighing 6- 30 pounds began in the last five years."

 Parental Unit, of course, is delighted with any medical advancement that will help me and all the other faithful companion animals of the world live longer and pain free. She "fondly" recalls the days when her dear departed, Wire fox Terrier, Carson, had the ligaments in both knees replaced by a traveling orthopedic surgeon...and she's hoping (and I've got my paws crossed) that my joints stay just fine for the next, say, 20 years or so.

Unfortunately, this is the extent of my agility training today...
