We Are Cat Parents!

Today's a big day at Petfinder.com! Their "I am a Cat Parent" Campaign is in full swing and we're proud to join with other cat parents to write a post that shouts our cat-parent pride! Check out the cat-parent festivities happening at Petfinder today and join in the fun!

Here I am with my sister, Bella

Even though I had no prior experience with cats when I was adopted from our local shelter way back in 2008, Parental Unit already had Bella, and I was smart enough to realize that if I wanted to get my paws in the door, I'd better make nice with her beloved kitty. Since then, we've become fast friends-playing, sleeping and even dining together, and this has, needless to say, surprized me! But truth be told, Parental Unit was not planning to add a cat to her family that chilly October night in 2004...Take it away, Parental Unit...

Thanks for letting me guest post on your blog, Bocci! Here's the tale of that fateful evening when I heard tiny meows coming from underneath a large (and I do mean huge) truck parked in a Walgreens' parking lot, one dark and stormy night (really, it was extra dark and stormy). I knelt down after I saw a tiny kitten, and said something aloud like, "Oh, poor kitty", and she came running to me and jumped in my arms. I got a towel from the car and brought her into Walgreens' with me-and actually tried to give her away! I did the same thing for several days afterward, but neither my neighbors nor my vet wanted another cat, and the local cat shelter was overflowing...and the rest of the story has been one big love fest (really again!).

Ms. Bella a few days after settling in...at about 2 months old.

                               Is she adorable or what?

From the very beginning, Bella was a very sweet girl-always wanting to be touched and loved, and following me around more than my then dog did. Maybe it's because she has been "raised with dogs", but Bella turns the "indifferent kitty" stereotype on its head. She's super affectionate, loves to play and comes when she's called 100% of the time. Although I had a few cats as a child, they were outdoor/indoor cats and I didn't get to observe their personalities as closely. I had no idea how loving, fun and yes, obedient, a cat could be...

                              Bella's reads widely...

And loves her big brother, too!

So what about you? Are you ready to be surprized by kitty love? Just head over to Petfinder.com and meet your match today!
