Update On The Dog Auction Ban Initiative

If you'll recall, in yesterday's post about the local Pet-A-Palooza I attended, I mentioned a group of dedicated folks here in Ohio working tirelessly to get an initiative before Ohio's voters to ban dog auctions in this state. They had a booth at the event and were collecting signatures for the ballot initiative. Here they are again!

I just learned that USA Today wrote a short piece on their efforts last Wednesday-check it out right here:
www.usatoday.com/life/lifestyle/pets/2010-09-01-animalactivists01_ST_N.htm

And if you want to learn more about this very important initiative, feel free to peruse their organization's website at:
http://www.BanOhioDogAuctions.com. They also have a Legislation page where you can read up on some of their other proposals - they've got another important one in the works to ban puppy mills in Ohio.

If you have any interest in helping out, you can contact a member of this organization through their website listed above.

Not much rest for these dedicated workers on this fine Labor Day!

Good to see it get attention. Also nice to see the lady in Martinsville helping the pets right here in Indiana too. Can't say I have owned a pet that wasn't "fixed". Someone asked me why I would pay what I did for Noah then get him fixed? My reply was....I wanted a quality purebred Aussie....not Aussies. Believe me....he is enough to handle.

Where we live in Missouri, our humans get to vote in November to put restrictions on the care of dogs in puppy mills. We wish they would just outlaw puppy mills, but at least making them take better care of their animals is a start.
