The Worlds Oldest Doggie

Take a look at this piece from The New York Times-it tells you a little bit about the pooch, Chichi, who's presumed to be the oldest dog in the world at about 23 years of age! You can read the article and see a video clip from his recent appearance on "Good Morning America" right here: cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/26/old-dogs-new-career-star/

Although he's been partially blind for many years (his current owner says he "walks by Braille"), Chichi still manages to get around, although he tends to bump into furniture.

Now, I don't know Chichi's secret to living to such a ripe old age, but I can show you mine:

It starts with sleeping in late on Parental Unit's pillow...

And I like to do a bit of yoga-type stretching, preferably on my back, right before I join Parental Unit downstairs for breakfast...

Breakfast is followed by a walk, some squirrel chasing, and perhaps a rousing game of fetch, before I retire to the couch for an afternoon nap.

I don't know if I'll make it to 23, but I think I've got a pretty good start-what do you all think?
We'd love to hear your "longevity routines"!

My older sister TaiChi crossed The Bridge a few months ago at the ripe old age of 20; she was a miniature poodle, and while she was mostly blind, she could smell a steak from a mile away! Having had over a year to observe her techniques, I would definitely say that sleeping on the soft pillows on the Big Dog Bed (where Mom and Dad sleep) was high on her list of beauty/restorative techniques. Power napping was also key. I can only hope that I follow in her (ancient) footsteps!

Well, Lilac will be fifteen in September. She's just a sassy old broad who does what she wants, when she wants, without concern for human conventions!

Wow-it sounds like those poodles are long-lived, Fiona! Maggie Mae and Pup Fan-I agree that good minds do think alike!

A+A, you're hysterical! I hope your PL2 has recovered from the swoon-you need to be prepared with smelling salts, I guess :-)

Your buddy,
Bocci

Chichi is amazing and cute too! He sure doesn't look his age! Mom says that if I live to be 23, my life is only half over! I swear by my yogurt!

Love ya lots,
Maggie
