Be The Change For Shelter Pets:They're Counting On You!

We think this is a pretty nifty infographic, created by our friends at BlogPaws as part of their month-long celebration of "Adopt-A-Pet" Month. Perhaps "celebration" isn't quite the right word, but BlogPaws and its community of "Be the Change" pet bloggers, and other members of the animal welfare community have worked mighty hard during the month of October, as they do year-round, to call attention to the millions of pets entering shelters each year. And unfortunately, most of those perfectly healthy and loving creatures are euthanized because they simply can't find a forever home. Although there are lots of reasons for this embarrassingly high euthanasia rate, we all need to call attention to the facts outlined in the infographic below, and urge our friends and family to "Adopt, Don't Shop"! And please take the next step and share as much information as you can about adoptable shelter pets through your social media channels. Remember: We are their voice!

Be The Change For Pets: Paws For Japan

Paws for Japan

We're a little late in getting this up today, but here we go... By now, we all know about the "one-two-three punch" that has hit our brothers and sisters in Japan. Well, BlogPaws Be the Change for Pets has stepped up to organize donations and relief efforts for Japan's pets through World Vets, an organization dedicated to providing veterinary aid worldwide. It just so happens that Cathy King, the founder and executive director of World Vets is part of the BlogPaws community and attended the recent BlogPaws West conference in Denver.

At this very moment, the first World Vets responder deployment is en route with supplies to Japan to meet with a coalition of of Japanese animal welfare groups. To assist World Vets is this work, Be the Change for Pets is asking the online pet community to help raise funds and awareness for these much-needed efforts.

So...Today, Thursday, March 17, 2011 is Paws for Japan Day.

Surprise! We're In Cesar Millan's Newsletter Again!

Parental Unit and I wanted to let you all know that we've written another article for  Cesar Millan's website and newsletter. This time we wrote about the inspiring second BlogPaws conference that Parental Unit attended (without me) in Denver, just a little over a month ago. We are thrilled to know that Mr. Millan and his staff of pack leaders are interested in the dog blogging world and the great things that the organization BlogPaws brings to the table. It really is all about "Being the Change for Pets"!
