Emergency First Aid Tips For Pet Owners

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has generously compiled these detailed strategies (they're really more than "tips") for how you can help your dog or cat in an emergency. The AVMA clearly notes, though, that these are emergency procedures that can help save your pet's life, but do not substitute for veterinary care. It's what you are prepared to do before you get your ill or injured pet to your veterinarian or an emergency clinic.

The strategies include plans for first aid supplies, handling an injured pet, disaster planning and basic first aid procedures, with links that provide more detailed information on each topic.

We think this information is perfect to print and save. Please share your pet first aid tips with us—we'd love to hear them!
